East Riverside's New Concert Hall Booked Its Spring Before It Settled Parking

On Sunday, March 7, Hum will be the first band to play a public show at United Heritage Hall, a 4,000-capacity room in East Riverside. Where will the people in that room park?

On October 19, AEG Presents released the first shows for its 65,000-square-foot room in River Park, the 109-acre mixed-use development on the east end of Riverside Drive. The release has dates, days of the week and a lineup that runs from Tejano to dubstep to stand-up comedy. On the venue's Plan Your Visit page, parking and rideshare details will come "once the venue's parking agreement is finalized" and "once the venue's rideshare agreement is finalized."

So the shows are on the calendar and the logistics are not. For people who live along East Riverside, those logistics are the part that reaches their own street.

Twelve Dates, Seven of Them in March

The AEG Presents announcement lists the opening slate in order:

Day Date Performer
Sunday March 7 Hum
Friday March 12 Taylor Tomlinson
Saturday March 13 deadmau5
Thursday March 18 ZZ Top
Friday March 19 La Mafia
Tuesday March 23 Death Cab for Cutie
Saturday March 27 The Plot in You
Wednesday April 1 Fonseca
Friday April 23 Chaka Khan
Saturday April 24 Sullivan King
Sunday October 3 Roger Waters Presents LEGACY
Wednesday October 6 Jimmy Carr

Seven of the twelve shows fall within 21 days in March. Three are back-to-back pairs on consecutive nights: March 12 and 13, March 18 and 19, and April 23 and 24. Several are on weeknights. Then the calendar skips from late April to October. In the same release, AEG says more performances, ticket information and programming "will be announced soon."

AEG's August 25 announcement said "spring 2027." The October release says "early next year," and KXAN's coverage of the lineup uses the same phrase. Both point to the same first night in March.

The Address on the Ticket Will Be 1900 E. Crossing Place

When the venue broke ground on September 24, 2025, Community Impact placed it at 4700 E. Riverside Drive. The venue's own site now gives the address as 1900 E Crossing Place, Building 1, Austin, TX 78741. The new address names a street inside River Park, not Riverside Drive.

City records describe the site around it. A December 17, 2024 Planning Commission staff report on River Park South Block D covers an indoor entertainment venue with a cocktail lounge, and staff recommended approval of the conditional use permit. The report puts access from East Riverside Drive, with the larger project also reachable from Wickersham Lane. It counts 339 vehicle spaces and 31 bicycle spaces on a 2.31-acre site inside a 15.28-acre project. That count covers the Block D site as a whole. The same report says a traffic impact analysis was not required for this site plan.

The venue is also only the first building. In 2025 Community Impact reported that Block D plans included roughly 600 apartments, a hotel of 150 to 200 rooms, 25,000 to 30,000 square feet of retail, a public plaza or park, and a new road, all to be built in phases after the venue. The same report said changes in the market had moved the site away from a more office-oriented plan and toward the venue and other placemaking features. For now, the hall is the only River Park building with dates attached.

The Bus Is the One Arrangement Already in Place

For public transportation, the venue page says multiple CapMetro stops sit directly next to the building and lists Route 20, Route 310 and Route 670 as "potential options." CapMetro describes Route 20 Riverside as running between the airport and downtown along Riverside every 15 minutes, seven days a week. Of all the ways to reach the venue, that frequency is the only one already published.

The venue FAQ adds some rules for drivers before any lot has been named. Parking lots will open two hours before doors, and neither overnight parking nor tailgating is allowed. On weekends with back-to-back shows, such as March 12 and 13, that means two straight nights of lots filling ahead of doors.

The Approach From I-35 Stays Rearranged Through 2029

The other half of the trip is getting to East Riverside at all. Much of the city reaches it over the Riverside bridge at I-35, which has been rebuilt in stages all year.

The northbound I-35 frontage road at Riverside has been closed since February 16, 2026, according to Community Impact. The report says that arrangement and the closure of the Riverside pedestrian ramp are expected to last through 2029. In July, KXAN reported a further shift that added a temporary signal on the southbound frontage road and left two lanes in each direction across the Riverside bridge, with parts of that setup also expected to stay through 2029.

That means every show on the current calendar, from Hum in March through Jimmy Carr in October, falls inside the period when this bridge configuration is expected to stay in place. Concert traffic headed east from downtown will cross a bridge with two lanes open in each direction.

The walking and cycling route along the water is limited too. According to the Trail Conservancy's detour page, the full closure of the south-shore boardwalk ran October 12 through 18, partial limits on boardwalk access continue through early 2027, and the east-side I-35 pedestrian crossing is closed during bridge construction. The early-2027 end date for the boardwalk limits falls close to the March opening.

Rail Arrives on Riverside Years After the First Encore

Project Connect is the long-term transit answer for this corridor. The Austin Transit Partnership says Phase 1 light rail includes East Riverside. KUT reported in July that construction was set to start in 2027 and first trains were targeted for 2033.

So the venue's first season of shows could overlap with the start of rail construction on the same road. Its first several years will run on buses, cars and rideshare. By the time trains are scheduled to run, United Heritage Hall will be in its seventh year.

Closer In, the Changes Are at 1920 E. Riverside

Before March, the changes residents can actually walk to are in the South Shore District, where several restaurant moves are lined up.

  • JABS, the smashburger brand, is planning its first brick-and-mortar restaurant at 1920 E. Riverside Drive, Ste. E-120, in the former Bao'd Up space. In June, Community Impact reported a late-2026 target.
  • Wingstop is moving down the street from 2410 E. Riverside Drive, Ste. A1, to 1920 E. Riverside Drive, Ste. D-100. Community Impact reported that construction was expected to wrap up in late November.
  • Wahoo's at 1333 Shore District Drive has a South Shore events page that lists a Thanksgiving event on Thursday, November 26.

These are small changes next to a 4,000-capacity hall. They are also the kind of change the bridge work and the boardwalk limits do not affect, because they serve people who already live within walking distance.

Dates to Know Between Now and Opening Night

  1. Late November 2026: Expected end of construction on the Wingstop space at 1920 E. Riverside, Ste. D-100.
  2. November 26, 2026: Thanksgiving event listed by Wahoo's South Shore.
  3. Late 2026: JABS target for its first restaurant at 1920 E. Riverside, Ste. E-120.
  4. Early 2027: Expected end of partial access limits on the south-shore boardwalk.
  5. March 7, 2027: Hum plays the first public show at United Heritage Hall.
  6. 2027: Scheduled start of Project Connect light-rail construction.
  7. Through 2029: Expected duration of the I-35 and Riverside frontage road and bridge configuration.
  8. 2033: Target year for the first light-rail trains.

The parking map is the next item to watch for. The venue says it will publish designated parking locations once its agreement is finalized, and the Plan Your Visit page is where they will appear.
